Pineapple Tarts




Pineapple Tarts are very popular during the festive season in Malaysia and Singapore. Being a native Chinese Malaysian we definitely have pineapple tarts during Chinese New Year along with other savory cookies. Since I was craving for pineapple tarts last Chinese New Year I have decided to try making some my own. I haven't been able to find an asian store in Chicago that sells pineapple tarts (or at least the Malaysian way). :)
The pastry consists mainly a large proportion of butter and egg yolk which gives it a buttery, golden, flaky texture to it. The tarts can be made out of round shaped or rectangular shaped which can be filled or topped with pineapple filling or jam.
